Breast augmentation, also known as augmentation mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to enhance the size, shape, and volume of the breasts. Reasons for Breast Augmentation
Patients consider breast augmentation for many reasons, including:

Types of Breast Augmentation Implants
Types of Breast Implants
- Silicone Gel Implants/Gummy Bear: Filled with silicone gel, these implants mimic the natural feel of breast tissue. These are the best and most common types of implants used.
- Saline Implants: An implant filled with sterile saltwater is not a good implant and is not our recommendation. It is a cheaper implant, and it is available only in the USA.
Breast augmentation with Fat Transfer
Not the best option for breast augmentation. Usually requires liposuction to extract the fat, and the fat transfer will remain only a few cc. Doesn’t gives the same shape, neither the same volume as the breast augmentation. It’s not our first option, but it can be used to make small enhancements and improve symmetry after/during breast augmentation. In this case, we call it hybrid surgery (breast augmentation + fat transfer). This combination is really useful.
The Procedure
Breast augmentation is performed under general anesthesia and typically takes 1 hour. The patient stay in the hospital for a few hours before going home. The discharge will happen a few hours after surgery, and there are no movement restrictions like the older techniques.
Incisions
- Inframammary Fold (beneath the breast): The most common option, offering direct access to the breast pocket. the best to preserve the nipple sensation and to breastfeeding in the future.
- Periareolar (around the nipple): not our recommendation because many patients lose the nipple sensation and possibility to breastfeeding in the future
- Transaxillary (in the armpit): Avoids scarring on the breast itself. it is done by video surgery
For small to medium implants, the incision is approximately 2 cm. For medium to large implants, the incision varies from 3 cm to 4 cm. Incisions are not visible in the long term and are well hidden.
Implant Placement
- Subglandular: Above the chest muscle and below the breast tissue.
- Submuscular: Below the chest muscle for a more natural contour and less visible edges. It is our initial preference. helps to keep implant on position and stable longer than subglandular. this technique is also know as Dual Plane, which is the most modern and advanced nowadays.
Fast Recovery Process
we use the fast recovery tecnhique:
- Most patients can return to regular activities 3 to 5 days after surgery and resume full excercises after 4-6 weeks.
- Swelling and soreness are normal during the initial recovery phase.
- A supportive surgical bra may be recommended to promote healing and reduce discomfort.
The fast recovery technique is amazing because it allows the patient to return to regular activities in a very short time after surgery.
How to Select the Implant
The consultation will be fundamental in selecting the appropriate implant. During the appointment, Dr. Paulo will examine your chest and take measurements to determine the right implant size that fits your body. This approach will ensure that the implant is neither too large nor too small, helping to achieve a perfect shape and more natural results.
Additionally, some photos will be taken to create a breast augmentation simulation. This simulation, based on your own images, will provide you with a clearer idea of the final outcome on your body. Please bring reference photos that you find helpful; this will assist us in selecting the most suitable implant and achieving the best possible results.

We work with implants from Motiva, Mentor and Polytech. Any other brand can be used under your request since available in the UAE.
Internal Bra
In all our surgeries, we use a technique called the internal Bra. This is not an external product, but a special technique that recreates the inframammary fold. This approach helps prevent implants from sagging over time, resulting in a better and more stable outcome.
High Profile Implant x Moderate Profile Implants
The most common types of breast implants are the high-profile implants (full) and the moderate-profile implants (demi). High-profile implants provide a fuller appearance in the upper breast and are a great option for patients desiring a round shape, more projection, and enhanced upper breast fullness. On the other hand, moderate-profile implants are better suited for patients seeking a more natural look, offering a gentle projection and natural cleavage.
Ultimately, there is no right or wrong choice between high or moderate profile implants. The goal is to determine, during the consultation, which type aligns best with the patient’s expectations and desired results.
Potential Risks and Complications
Our complication rate is less than 1%. While breast augmentation is generally safe, risks include:
- Capsular contracture (scar tissue around the implant)
- Implant rupture or leakage
- Changes in nipple or breast sensation
- Infection
- Unsatisfactory results requiring revision surgery
